Tuan Van Le

Practice Lead, Tax Disputes

Tuan is a litigator with over 16 years of experience in tax, insolvency and commercial litigation.  Having been the Executive Director of the ATO’s litigation department and a Judicial Registrar of the Federal Court of Australia, Tuan brings a deep understanding of the inner workings of Courts and Tribunals to the leadership of Aptum’s Tax Practice.

Tuan has acted for the Commissioner on a range of complex Part IVC, debt litigation and administrative law matters, and on taskforces such as Project Wickenby and the Serious Financial Crime Taskforce.

Tuan has continually seen that the best results in litigation are achieved with early and ongoing investigations to inform a clear strategy.  Recognised for the success of this approach, Tuan has been included in the 2023 and 2024 editions of The Best Lawyers in Australia for the practice areas of Tax Law & Litigation, and has been selected by Who’s Who Legal’s independent research with clients and peers for recognition in Corporate Tax.

Tuan is a senior fellow at Melbourne Law School and is also a current member of the Tax Committee of the Law Council of Australia and its representative on the ATO Private Groups Stewardship Group.

Tuan draws on his extensive experience, strategic insights and a passion for advocacy to lead the delivery of better litigation experiences to Aptum’s taxation clients.
